Cosoma out for stakeholders’ awareness

By Precious Msosa

Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) has said it has embarked on a series of engagements with its members and other stakeholders on some of its operations.

Speaking during an engagement with its members and the journalists in Liwonde on Tuesday, Public Relations officer for the society Catherine Mitungwi Chiumia said they have observed that most people are not aware of how the institution works.

Titani Kalembo: Cosoma should encourage these engagements

“We have noted that there is a big knowledge gap and that most people do not have the right information as regards our operations. For instance most people do not know the procedure and process of how we distribute loyalties, issues of licensing and documentation.

“So in order to lessen or close this gap, this is why we had arranged this meeting. We will continue to have them so that the public is fully aware of our mandate,” Mitungwi Chiumia said.

She expressed hope that with the path they have taken, the people will be able to fully know how the society works.

One of the participants Horace Titani Kalembo, who in music circles is well known as HTK, hailed the engagement saying as musicians who are the main stakeholders of Cosoma, it is important that they are fully acquainted with the mandate of the society.

He said it is indeed true that most of the stakeholders do not clearly understand several areas of Cosoma.

“There are issues to do with loyalties which most of us do not clearly understand its nitty-gritties, so I believe engagements like these are a good move and let me commend Cosoma for this,” he said.
