Balaka elects new youth football committee

Balaka District Youth Football Committee (BDYFC) on Saturday ushered in a new executive committee which will run the affairs of youth football for the next four years.

Former chairperson Harold Kachepatsonga retained the position unopposed and will be deputized by Richard Koloko who defeated Muhammad Hussein by 13 votes against four. The new general secretary is Manasseh Chirwa who went unopposed while Benson Mkwapatira is the new treasurer after he saw off Charles Chigonjetso with 11 votes against 6 votes.

The new committee members are Felix Mukhota, Amin Gomile, Alick Manja Wesley Jack and Alick Milanzi.

In his acceptance speech, Kachepatsonga urged his backroom staff to be impartial by not advancing the interests of their respective teams. He said for youth football to progress in the district, the new executive committee must work hard and pull in the same direction.

“All eyes will be on us. If youth football fails here in Balaka, it will be none other than us. So let’s work together for the good development of youth football,” he said.

Kachepatsonga then challenged his members to establish two zones at the boma with each zone competing for K500, 000 respectively which he is going to sponsor.

He also promised to sponsor further training of coaches from all the 11 district teams. He said for the game to improve, it is important that the coaches have formal basic training of coaching.
