Despite cyberbullying, online fraud and the spread of misinformation being among the negative effects that have emerged with the rapid growth of technology. Technology remains an essential tool for development, transforming the way people communicate, learn, work and access information.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most transformative technologies of the modern era. While concerns about AI often dominate discussions, its positive contributions to society cannot be overlooked.

Many young people in the country are making use of AI in search of jobs. This is another positive aspect of AI although some tasks are being automated, AI is creating demand for new skills and careers in areas such as data analysis, software development, cybersecurity and machine learning.

From improving education and healthcare services, enhancing business operations, technology continues to play a vital role in creating employment opportunities. Young people are embracing Artificial Intelligence platforms as way of transforming career development, recruitment and workforce management systems.

As Malawi 2063 Vision places Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a critical economic enabler for inclusive wealth creation. Players on the labour market are embracing AI powered career, recruitment and workforce management platforms designed to connect job seekers, employers, HR managers and career development within one smart digital ecosystem. One of such platform is Mvungi Job Master which was launched in October 2025.

Mvungi Job Master is an AI powered employment, workplace management and employable platform built for the African market. The platform provides digital solutions for job seekers, employers, HR professionals, consultants, businesses, and institutions including AI powered job matching, applicant tracking, workforce management, payroll administration and skills development services.

Chief Executive Officer for Mvungi Job Master, Chikondi Willie, said that the platform was established to simplify and modernize employment systems in Malawi through digital innovation and Artificial Intelligence. In his words, Willie said Mvungi Job Master was inspired by the challenges young people face when searching for jobs and the high rates of unemployment in the country.

“One of the major causes of unemployment is the gap between the skills many young people have and the skills currently needed in the modern job market and limited access to opportunities, lack of career guidance in connecting employers with job seekers, putting in mind economic challenges and limited job creation as the significant contributors,” he said.

In addition to that, Willie said many qualified individuals struggle to access opportunities, submitting applications manually without feedback and lack of career development support. At the same time, many organizations still rely on slow and disconnected recruitment process.

Willie added that the main goal for Mvungi Job Master is to simplify access to employment opportunities and help young people and professionals grow their careers through technology, innovation and skills development by using technology and artificial intelligence to simplify   and modernize these systems.

“Mvungi Job Master helps young people by making job opportunities easier to access through one consolidated digital platform. We simplify job applications, help users create professional profiles and CVs and provide tools that improve visibility to employers. We also expand into career development and workforce learning to help young people improve their skills and became more competitive in today’s work environment,” said Willie.

Since its launch, Mvungi Job Master has attracted more than 10,000 registered users across Malawi, Zambia and parts of South Africa and has facilitated over 70 verified employment placements.

While the company describes the figure as an early milestone, it says placements reflect growing confidence in digital recruitments systems within a labour market that has traditionally relied on physical applications, newspaper advertisement and personal referrals.

“For many years, recruitment in Malawi has largely depended on newspaper advertisement, physical application and personal networks. Every verified placement through a digital platform represents progress towards a more connected and efficient labour market. The growing number of users joining Mvungi demonstrates that people are becoming increasingly comfortable with using technology to access opportunities and talent,” Willie said.

Beyond recruitment, the planform has evolved into broader workforce ecosystem offering AI powered job matching, applicant tracking, workforce management tools, payroll administration capabilities and employability development service through Mvungi academy.

Apart from job searching and recruitment, Willie said Mvungi Job Master also offers HR and employee management systems, pay roll management, leave management, vacancy and application management, workforce productivity tools, career development support, interview preparation assistance.

“We are currently developing a learning platform for short professional courses and we continue to engage and collaborate with various companies and organizations that use the platform for recruitment and workforce management and as we continue to grow we are focused on building more partnerships that will expand opportunities for both employees and job seekers,” explained Willie.

Willie has assured people to expect major developments in career development and workforce learning platform, where users will access short free and paid professional courses in areas such as AI, business management, customer service, leadership, digital skills and professional development and the platform is planning on expanding their services beyond Malawi into countries such a Zambia and Zimbabwe by 2028.
